CSR & ESG for Small Firms

Practical corporate responsibility for businesses under 250 staff.

CSR and ESG for small UK firms

You do not need a sustainability team to have a credible CSR posture. For UK businesses under 250 staff, a one-page statement, a charity partnership, paid volunteer days, and Payroll Giving are usually enough to satisfy procurement questionnaires and to attract the staff who care about this stuff (most do).

This pillar focuses on the proportional, no-nonsense version of CSR/ESG for SMBs. Articles coming soon.

Frequently asked questions

Do UK SMBs need a formal CSR or ESG strategy?

Legally, no — most ESG reporting requirements (e.g. SECR, climate-related financial disclosures) only kick in for larger or listed entities. But supplier and tender questionnaires increasingly ask for it, so a one-page CSR statement plus simple workplace giving and volunteering activity is usually enough to clear procurement gates.
